Confidence and the power of self belief

Confidence plays a crucial role in both health and elite performance across various domains, including sports, academics, business, and personal development. And while we may think that the more confident we can be the better, in fact, overconfidence also has its downsides. It can lead to unrealistic expectations, poor decision-making, and a lack of receptiveness to feedback. Confidence impacts our health and performance in a number of different and important ways.

Health:

  • Mental Health: By reducing anxiety and stress, confidence can positively impact mental health. A confident mindset helps individuals cope with challenges, setbacks, and uncertainties in life. It fosters resilience, leading to better emotional well-being.

  • Physical Health: Confidence can motivate us to adopt healthy lifestyle choices and maintain positive habits. People with high confidence are more likely to engage in regular exercise, follow a balanced diet, and adhere to medical advice.

  • Healing and Recovery: Confidence can also influence the healing process and recovery from injuries or illnesses. Believing in one's ability to heal and bounce back can enhance the body's natural healing mechanisms and adherence to treatment plans.

Performance:

  • Business and Career: Confidence is often linked to success in the professional world. Confident individuals are more likely to take on leadership roles, negotiate effectively, and seize opportunities. They project an aura of competence and their management style is known to positively influence others' perceptions and behaviors for better business results.

  • Sports: Confidence is a critical factor in elite athletic performance according to most credible scientific studies. It positively influences an athlete's focus, determination, and mental toughness or ability to handle pressure. Confident athletes are more likely to take calculated risks, perform at their best under pressure, and bounce back from failures more quickly.

  • Academics: In educational settings, confidence can lead to better academic performance. Students who believe in their abilities tend to set higher goals, work harder, and persist in the face of challenges. This, in turn, can lead to improved learning outcomes.

  • Creative Endeavors: In artistic and creative pursuits, confidence can empower individuals to take risks, explore new ideas, and express themselves authentically. Confidence is an important key to unlocking our creative potential.

At the Studio, I use modalities that involve relaxation, stress reduction, and emotional freedom to help people release emotional tensions and gain a more positive outlook.

Through tapping you are supported to release the power that unwanted emotional states and past traumas have over you. These traumatic memories, that come from critical incidents in our lives, are associated with increased levels of psychological distress across a variety of symptom domains. Even brief EFT sessions have been demonstrated to reduce anxiety and increase confidence and performance levels.

Certain combinations of flower essences have also been reported to be beneficial in helping people experience renewed trust and self-love, to let go of past hardships and to regain hope in better future outcomes. I'm a particular fan of FES (Flower Essence Society) essences and Australian Bush Flower remedies and create custom blends for individual clients.

Facing our emotional blocks may be challenging, but there's no doubt that when those emotional blocks are cleared, we can open up to improved self-esteem, increased confidence in our abilities and the many flow-on benefits that a rosy new outlook brings.
